KNIFE WOUNDS: stab and slash wounds are two types. The cleaner wound is the earliest stab wound. As the knife becomes bloody and difficult to grip the later wounds become messier. Two common reasons why knifes are used as weapons are 1) it is a weapon of opportunity, and 2) the suspect may have sexual problems (exceptions include prison stabbings, motorcycle gangs, and
"cocaine cowboy's" stabbings).
